Friday Cult Classics: Blade Runner

Every Friday night this summer, the library will be showing a cult classic film. This week’s selection is Blade Runner (Rated R). Deckard is a Blade Runner, a police man of the future who hunts down and terminates replicants, artificially created humans. He wants to get out of the force, but is drawn back in when 4 "skin jobs", a slang term for replicants, hijack a ship back to Earth. The city that Deckard must search for his prey is a huge, sprawling, bleak vision of the future. Refreshments will be provided and those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult to attend Rated R movies. All movies start at 7:00 p.m. and doors open at 6:30 p.m. This is an afterhours program.

Homeowners can schedule a private, 30 minute, one-on-one meeting with a foreclosure counselor, from the Wayne County Fight Mortgage Foreclosure Program Call or stop by the library to schedule your appointment. 734-326-6123 Space is limited. The Mortgage Foreclosure Prevention Program is a no fee, Wayne County program providing you an expansive network of certified counselors who will help you avoid or manage a mortgage foreclosure.

Felting Fun: Making Mittens

Learn how to create mittens from recycled sweaters! Hobby Lobby instructor Kris Rechtzigel will discuss methods of felting wool, using patters, and project assembly. You'll be working on your own pair of mittens!

Join us as we discuss In the Woods by Tana French. As dusk approaches a small Dublin suburb in the summer of 1984, three children do not return from the dark and silent woods. This evenings featured performer is Peter Madcat Ruth, "a Grammy Award-winning virtuoso harmonica player based out of Ann Arbor, Michigan. But Madcat doesn't just play blues harp: he also sings and plays ukulele, guitar, high-hat, jaw-harp, penny-whistle, kalimba, banjo and other folk instruments from around the world."

Join us for a discussion of A Lee Martinez's Gil's All Fright Diner. Two friends–Earl (as in the Earl of Vampires) and Duke (as in the Duke of Werewolves)–are driving along one evening when their truck runs out of gas. They wind up at an all-night diner in Rockwood, a small desert town that has a bit of a zombie problem. They help Loretta, the diner's owner/cook, fend off the zombies that are drawn to her eatery. Impressed, she asks the two to stay on and help her take care of some other supernatural problems in the town and to learn who is raising the ghouls.
