Summer Reading Program Finale, with Jason Hudy, Magician 11am

11:00am to 12:00pm, Meeting Rooms A and B

Children who complete our Summer Reading Program, reading 600 minutes or more, will be invited to this awesome show. Jason Hudy will delight, entertain and make you laugh with his amazing magic tricks! Admission by invitation to Summer Reading Program finishers.

In Celebration of Annie Oakley

7:00pm, Meeting Rooms A and B

Come celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Annie Oakley, world renowned record setter and star of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. Bess Edwards,grandniece of Little Miss Sureshot herself, will be discussing the life of, and answering questions about, this amazing woman. Would you like to help decorate the library's sidewalks? What kinds of scenes or creatures can you draw? We will have all supploes you will need. No registration required. (We will have to cancel this program if it rains.)

The Amazing Family Race: Westland

10:30am to 3:00pm, ages 7 & up with family

Come ready to follow clues around the city of Westland. New clues will be waiting for you at each stop and you will have to work as a team to figure out where to go next. Once you are done bring all the clues back to the library to finish the race and receive a family prize. *YOU WILL NEED A VEHICLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE RACE.* Limited to 15 families. For children 7 & UP. Registration begins August 2nd.

Seahorse Mix-up 1 pm

1:00pm to 2:00pm, ages 9 - 12, Children's Activity Room

Each child will receive a wooden skeleton of a seahorse that they will have to assemble. When that is completed, they can decorate it with fun things like glitter and/or markers. Limited to 12 children. Registration begins August 4th.

Open Mic Performers' Concert

7:00pm to 8:00pm, 14 and up, Library Pavilion

Open Mic performers Andy John and Mark Jewett welcome in a new Open Mic season with a concert of their folk-pop tunes. Each performer will hit the stage for 1/2 hour in the picturesque pavilion area. Free show.

Non-Fiction Challenge Game

Summer Reading Fun continues in August with the Children’s Non-Fiction Challenge. Children will read non-fiction books at their own reading level and record the titles of the books and call numbers. Each category completed will earn an entry for a chance to win a jar of treats, a gift card or another cool prize. Finishers will receive a free book! The Non-Fiction Challenge Game runs until September 3rd. Pick up your game sheet at the Children's Desk beginning August 2nd.
