Auggie was born with a facial deformity. To protect him from the harsh treatment of his peers, his mom homeschooled for as long as she could. Now, Auggie will be attending 5th grade at Beecher Prep. Book 2 in The Wildwood Chronicles. Occasionally, the second book in a trilogy is a huge letdown. Just biding time until the (hopefully) impressive finish. That is not the case here with Under Wildwood. Prue is drawn back to Wildwood and meets up again with her friend Curtis after a group of assassins hired by an unknown being comes after her. Meanwhile, a sketchy man of industry obsessively works on infiltrating the Impassible Wilderness so he can exploit it for his own profit. The first book introduced Wildwood. This one gets deeper and darker, revealing more layers of this magical land. The ending is a cliff hanger, setting up tension for the final installment.
