Teen Movie: Avatar

Watch James Cameron's Avatar with your friends. When his brother is killed, paraplegic Marine Jake Sully decides to take his place in a mission on the distant world of Pandora. In exchange for the spinal surgery that will fix his legs, Jake gathers intel for his military unit, while also attempting to learn about the Na'vi people with the use of an "avatar" identity. Unexpectedly, Jake begins to bond with the native tribe and quickly falls in love with the beautiful alien Neytiri, forcing him to choose sides in the war between humans and Na'vi. Rated PG-13.

Summer Concert Series: Peter Madcat Ruth

7:00pm to 8:00pm, 14 and up, Library Pavilion

This evenings featured performer is Peter Madcat Ruth, "a Grammy Award-winning virtuoso harmonica player based out of Ann Arbor, Michigan. But Madcat doesn't just play blues harp: he also sings and plays ukulele, guitar, high-hat, jaw-harp, penny-whistle, kalimba, banjo and other folk instruments from around the world."

"Madcat's repertoire of styles includes Blues, American Roots Music, Folk Music, Jazz, and World Music." Come early to get a seat.

Teen Talent Show- CANCELLED

Do you dance, sing, play a musical instrument, or write? Do you have an amazing talent that you want everyone to know about? Well, come take part in this summer's Teen Talent Show. First place winners get a $25 gift card; second place, a $15 gift card; and third place gets a $10 card. Sign up at the Reference Desk to participate.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Tournament, Part II

5:00pm to 8:30pm, ages 15-29

Play Super Smash Bros. Brawl and compete in our first-ever Wii video game tournament.

Warm up with open play from 5:00-5:30, when the tournament begins. Participants must be signed in by 5:30. Bring your own controller if you can't win without it! The tournament will continue throughout the summer.

Sign up begins at May 24th's Open Play video game event.

"An exciting mix of acoustic jazz styles, featuring Latin, bop and post-bop jazz, all with an emphasis on rich ensemble writing. Inspired by the early 1950s work of Miles Davis modern Latin Jazz styles, LL7 showcases the imagination, variety, and taste of LaPlante's horn arrangements. LL7 plays a range of music from breathtaking jazz lines to lush romantic ballads to fiery Latin jazz and Latin adaptations of jazz standards." Come early to get a seat.

Using Blogger, a free service, we will cover starting an account, personalizing the look of your blog, publishing posts, and sharing your blog with others.
