In Celebration of Annie Oakley

7:00pm, Meeting Rooms A and B

Come celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Annie Oakley, world renowned record setter and star of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. Bess Edwards,grandniece of Little Miss Sureshot herself, will be discussing the life of, and answering questions about, this amazing woman. Summer Concert Series: The Waco Country Band

A regular on past City Summer Concerts, Dean Stacey brings his Waco Country Band to the library for an evening of covers and originals. Get your boots on and get ready to line-dance! Limited seating available.

By invitation only: If you earned all 10 of your stamps for Teen SRP, then come celebrate by getting a henna or temporary tattoo. Click here to see some examples.

Be sure to have a parent sign the back of your invite if you want a tattoo. (Glitter tattoos last 3-7 days; henna lasts 7-10 days.)

Summer Concert Series: Andy John and Mark Jewett

7:00pm to 8:00pm, 14 and up, Library Pavilion

Join us for our last concert of the summer, as Open Mic regulars stop by to take the stage. Andy John first got into music when he heard Elvis sing "Good Rockin' Tonight" and plays rockabilly and folk-rock. Mark Jewett has been studying at the hands of local folk masters for years and is sure to offer an upbeat show. Limited seating provided.

Open Mic Performers' Concert

7:00pm to 8:00pm, 14 and up, Library Pavilion

Open Mic performers Andy John and Mark Jewett welcome in a new Open Mic season with a concert of their folk-pop tunes. Each performer will hit the stage for 1/2 hour in the picturesque pavilion area. Free show.

Microsoft Word for Students - Cancelled (rescheduled for October)

7:00pm to 8:30pm, Meeting Room A

Join us for a tour of Microsoft Word features helpful in the writing and formatting of a term paper or other large document. Learn about advanced tools useful to high school and college students, including citation and bibliography tools, footnotes and styles. Prerequisite: must be familiar with common uses of with Microsoft Word, including basic formatting. Seating limited, sign-up required.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Final Tournament!

3:30pm to 8:30pm, ages 15-29, Meeting Rooms A and B

Play Super Smash Bros. Brawl and compete in our first-ever Wii video game tournament. Warm up with open play from 3:30-4:00, when the tournament begins. Participants must be signed in by 4:00, or you won't be able to play!

Bring your own controller if you can't win without it!

This is the last tournament of the summer. All results from previous tournaments will be compiled, and prizes will be awarded!

If you like to discuss what you've read with others, then you'll like Teen Book Club. Books will be available at the Reference desk prior to the meeting.

We'll be reading Shades of Simon Gray, a sci-fi novel by Joyce McDonald. 17-year-old Simon Gray lies in a coma, finding his space and time overlapping with that of a man who was lynched over 200 years ago, while a member of the cheating ring he has been helping wonders if their actions have caused the plagues assaulting their New Jersey town.

Fiction Writers Group

If you would like help developing your fiction or enjoy reading new and exciting fiction, please join us for one of our sessions. Two new stories will be covered each month by the group. Note: this is the last Fiction Group meeting before we split into the Writers Club and Writers Workshop next month.
