Become an Organ Donor

There are currently 3,4000 patients in Michigan waiting for an organ transplant. Starting October 5th and running through October 11th, the Library will be participating in the Michigan Libraries for Life Organ Donation Drive through the Gift of Life Foundation. During this week, stop by the Reference Desk to register to become an organ and tissue donor.

Don't have the heart symbol on your driver's license? Come by the Reference Desk any day this week to become part of the Michigan Organ Donor Registry. We'll be giving out pens, heart-shaped stress balls, and plenty of info about organ donation. You could help save a life one day.

Also, be sure to join us on Saturday, October 17th for our National Day on Writing celebration from 1 – 4 p.m. We’ll welcome two guest speakers: author and photographer Cheryl Vatcher-Martin, who leads the Writers Club; and Linda Moore, author and founder of Moore Publishing of Michigan. 9/3/2015: The Library will begin necessary building repairs next week, due to the urgent need to replace pipes that distribute hot water throughout our building. During the next five weeks, there will be days the Library must close (or close early) due to welding, grinding and fumes. While work is being done during these closings, the building’s hot water and fire alarm systems will be shut off.

WEEKDAY EVENING CLOSURES (Library open 9:00-5:00):
September 9-11, September 14-18, and September 21-25.

WEEKEND CLOSURES (Library closed all day):
September 19, September 26-27, and October 3-4.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience during this project.

Library staff are currently working to cancel, reschedule, or relocate affected evening and weekend programs. Please refer to our library homepage and events calendar for updates.
