Food for Fines totals

Thank you to everyone who participated in our 2015 Food for Fines program. We had another great year, receiving 1,298 food items and forgiving $1,672 in library fines. Gleaners Community Food Bank and St. Mary's Outreach in Wayne received our items this year, helping hundreds of people in need. Thanks to Biggby Coffee and the Westland Friendship Center for hosting donation boxes for this program, as well.

Seeking Teen Volunteers for the Summer

Will you be entering 9th grade or above in the fall? Do you like kids and reading? The Youth Services Department is currently seeking teen volunteers to help for our Summer Reading Program, Be a Hero, READ! Interested volunteers are asked to commit to two or more hours per week doing a variety of tasks. This is a great opportunity to earn service hours for your school or community organization while you have free time during the summer! Applications are available in the library or online; please check out the application for more information, including dates for training sessions, and return completed applications to the Youth Services Desk.

Central City Parkway Repairs

Starting April 13, construction will begin on Central City Parkway between Wayne and Warren Roads.  July 31 is the tentative date for completion of the project.

Central City Parkway should be open between Ford and Warren Roads and the library should be fully accessible.
